Extremely defensive and fast—classic Old World behavior.
Will readily strike or retreat to its burrow when threatened.
Not recommended for handling under any circumstances.
Enclosure Tips:
Provide deep substrate (6+ inches) for burrowing.
Likes to web up the entire burrow entrance and sometimes parts of the enclosure.
Humidity should be around 70–80%, with good ventilation. Temps: 75–80°F (24–27°C).
Notes:
Known for its vibrant blue sheen, which can rival that of more expensive species like Haplopelma lividum.
Sometimes confused with Chilobrachys fimbriatus or C. sp. electric blue, but dyscolus tends to be darker overall.
Best suited for experienced keepers due to its speed, defensiveness, and environmental needs.
